Chapter Design Lead (m/f/d) (Hamburg)

FREE NOW was founded as mytaxi in June 2009 and was the world’s
first taxi app that established a direct connection between a
passenger and a taxi driver. In July 2019, mytaxi rebranded to FREE
NOW as part of a global mobility brand family and set itself up as
a multiservice mobility provider.

With 14 million passengers and more than 100,000 drivers, FREE
NOW is one of the leading ride-hailing providers in Europe. Since
February 2019, the service is part of the FREE NOW group, the
ride-hailing joint venture of BMW and Daimler.

FREE NOW today works with more than 700 employees in 26 offices
and is available in over 100 European cities. Eckart Diepenhorst is
leading the operational business as CEO Europe of FREE NOW.

You will own the design aspect of some of FREE NOW’s most
high-priority projects, lead other designers and teams in solving
challenging and stimulating design problems, and uplevel and evolve
our culture and processes in an environment that values and
understands good design.

What’s the job?

At our Hamburg office, you will lead a team of dedicated
designers working on our passenger apps, and enable the wider
design team in Hamburg, Berlin and Barcelona by providing design
system assets and design-ops standards.

You will lead the design strategy and execution on projects that
are top company priorities. You will impact the product and
business by delivering design solutions of the highest quality, and
impact how we design across the company by sharing your knowledge
and experience.

You will drive the design of important, core technologies, and
you will work with other design leaders across our offices to help
build an exceptional global design team.

Your responsibilities:

• Explore different concepts and validate the idea’s viability
  through UX testing.
• Influence product specifications and execute design work with a
  high level of detail.
• Generate comprehensive information architecture, wireframes,
  high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for iOS, Android
  and web.
• Create and deliver digital product features with multiple
  product teams.
• Deliver comprehensive visual design for in-app
  communications.
• Know how to showcase your work effectively, and communicate
  design decision to stakeholders through presentations.
• Work closely with product managers and developers.

• 5+ years of UX/UI design experience, 2+ years leading
  teams.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional design.
• Background in product design (UX/UI), with a focus on mobile
  (native apps).
• Ability to think big and understand complex feature sets.
• Mastery of design and prototyping tools: Sketch, Abstract,
  Principle, Framer, …
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent graphic design skills (layout, typography,
  color)
• Presentation design skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup
  environment
